Recommended journalism books

We recommend the following books, which are updated each year:

The Guardian book is a directory of useful media contacts for governmental bodies, broadcasters, newspapers, charities and major companies.

The other two books are guides to paying markets for writers. Neither is comprehensive as a directory of all magazines out there but they both include good contact information for leading titles and a wealth of reference and educational material. They're an essential starting point for book authors and will help periodical journalists to generate fresh ideas and find new markets for their work. Given their low price, you're sure to recoup your investment in paid work if you use them.
